In an official notice, the PSX confirmed the closure, aligning with the public holiday declared by the Government of Pakistan. Similarly, the Sindh government has announced a holiday for both government and private institutions to mark the occasion.
Youm-e-Takbeer is observed to recognize Pakistan’s successful nuclear tests in the Chaghai hills of Balochistan, which established the country as the seventh nuclear-armed state globally and the first Muslim-majority nation to achieve nuclear capability.
The tests were carried out as a strategic deterrence measure, solidifying Pakistan’s defense position in the region. The annual observance underscores the nation’s commitment to sovereignty and security, reflecting the historic significance of May 28 in Pakistan’s defense history.
