Gilgit-Baltistan Leads Pakistan’s Cherry Production with 5,000-Ton Harvest
The breathtaking landscapes of Gilgit-Baltistan not only attract tourists but also serve as fertile ground for cherry production, contributing approximately 70% of Pakistan’s total yield. This year, over 5,000 tons of cherries were harvested, solidifying Gilgit-Baltistan’s position as the leading cherry-producing region in Pakistan, followed by Balochistan. Areas like Hunza, Nagar, Yasin, Phander, and Nomal provide ideal climates and soil for cultivating high-quality cherries.
Gilgit-Baltistan Cherries Gain Global Recognition with Exports to China and Arab Nations
This season, cherries from Gilgit-Baltistan reached consumers both domestically and internationally, with exports to China and various Arab countries. These exports have highlighted the region’s agricultural strength on a global scale.
