Pakistan and Iran Collaborate on Investigation into Mehrestan County Killings
On April 12, 2025, eight Pakistani nationals tragically lost their lives in a shooting incident in Mehrestan County, Iran’s Sistan and Balochistan province, located approximately 230 kilometers from the Pakistan-Iran border. The victims, who were laborers running an auto repair business, were targeted by unidentified gunmen in what Iranian authorities have described as a terrorist act.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has demanded a comprehensive investigation into the killings and is working closely with Iranian officials to ensure the repatriation of the victims’ bodies.
