U Bank Partners with CARE Pakistan and Mastercard to Empower Women Entrepreneurs

Islamabad: U Microfinance Bank Limited (U Bank) has signed a landmark partnership with CARE Pakistan and Mastercard to improve financial access for women entrepreneurs across Pakistan. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Islamabad by Mr. Mohamed Essa Al Taheri, President & CEO of U Bank, and Mr. Adil Sheraz, Country Director of CARE Pakistan, in the presence of Mr. Arslan Khan, Country Representative of Mastercard. Senior management and staff from all three organizations also attended the ceremony.

This collaboration, under the Strive Women Program, aims to bridge the financial inclusion gap by creating innovative, women-centered financial products. By empowering women-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the partnership seeks to foster sustainable growth and enrich communities, advancing the agenda of Women’s Economic Justice (WEJ).

Speaking at the event, Adil Sheraz, Country Director of CARE Pakistan, highlighted the significance of partnerships in overcoming barriers faced by women entrepreneurs. He emphasized the need to provide tailored support to help them thrive in a competitive environment.

Arslan Khan, Country Representative of Mastercard, reaffirmed Mastercard’s commitment to advancing gender inclusion through impactful initiatives like the Strive Women Program. “Our partnership with CARE Pakistan and U Bank reflects Mastercard’s dedication to empowering women and fostering an inclusive economic ecosystem,” he stated.

Concluding the ceremony, Mr. Mohamed Essa Al Taheri, President & CEO of U Bank, shared his inspiring vision for the initiative. “At U Bank, we are committed to creating an enabling environment where women entrepreneurs can succeed.
