FPCCI Partners with China for $350 Million Investment to Boost Electric Vehicle Infrastructure
The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Energy Standing Committee has unveiled plans to set up 3,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the country with the support of a leading Chinese company. The initiative aims to strengthen Pakistan’s EV infrastructure and attract substantial foreign investment.

According to Malik Khuda Bakhsh, Convener of the FPCCI Energy Standing Committee, an agreement has been signed with the Chinese company and the Government of Pakistan. Under this agreement, EV stations will be installed along the motorway from Peshawar to Karachi, bringing in a projected $350 million in foreign investment. An initial investment of $90 million will be allocated for the first phase, with an additional $250 million directed toward EV manufacturing by February 2025.
During a ceremony at FPCCI’s head office in Karachi, Malik Khuda Bakhsh highlighted the environmental and economic benefits of the project. He emphasized that the EV stations would reduce Pakistan’s fuel import bills and combat environmental pollution.

He also noted strong interest from Chinese investors in Pakistan’s energy sector, mentioning detailed discussions with federal and Sindh government officials. The Sindh government has assured full support in facilitating land acquisition and providing essential documentation services, fostering a favorable environment for foreign investment in alternative energy and Thar Coalfield projects.
