President Asif Ali Zardari called for a more business-friendly environment to improve Pakistan’s economy by reducing interest rates, providing affordable energy, and supporting export-oriented industries. Speaking at the 12th Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Excellence Awards, he emphasized the need for reforms that stimulate business activities, especially for small and medium enterprises, which play a crucial role in job creation.

Zardari highlighted that high interest rates are detrimental to economic growth and called on the government to reconsider its policy rate. He stressed that a comprehensive approach is needed to address the country’s economic challenges. Reflecting on his previous tenure, the President noted that his policies, including support for export-driven industries and cost-effective energy, had contributed to increased exports despite difficult times.

The President also urged the business community to invest in the stock exchange and actively participate in economic transformation. He praised FPCCI for encouraging healthy competition through their Excellence Awards and called for continued efforts to enhance exports and support domestic industries.
