Addressing concerns about deforestation, Majid advocated for alternative heating solutions like cheap electricity or subsidized LPG to lessen the reliance on wood burning in Chitral’s harsh climate.
SDFO Yusuf Farhad highlighted trees’ role in mitigating flood impacts, particularly in Chitral’s dry zones. He explained how vegetation slows floodwaters, reducing potential damage and loss.
The ceremony concluded with a communal planting session and the distribution of free saplings to attendees, reinforcing the community’s commitment to combat climate change through increased tree plantation.
