Tariq Jamil’s eldest son has shed light on the circumstances leading to the tragic passing of his younger brother. Yousaf Jamil has disclosed that Asim took his own life due to the burden of “severe depression.”
As per the initial police investigation, the religious scholar’s son had tragically ended his life at their residence in Talamba, their hometown in Punjab.

In a video message delivered on Monday, Yousaf explained that Asim had been grappling with severe depression since his early years, and the condition had notably worsened in the last six months. As part of his treatment, his younger brother had been undergoing Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT).

However, Yousaf lamented that even this therapeutic approach proved ineffective in alleviating Asim Jamil’s suffering, saying, “[But] giving electric shock to him [Asim Jamil] did not help.”

Yousaf also clarified that on the day of the incident, his late brother had been alone at home and had used a security guard’s firearm to end his life, unable to endure the pain and anguish any longer.
In response to speculations and unfounded rumors surrounding Asim’s death, Yousaf emphatically stated that his brother had no enmity with anyone, nor had anyone attacked him. He concluded by affirming, “It was his destiny, and we are at peace with this decision of Allah.”
