Nation Mourns Renowned Psychiatrist and Human Rights Advocate Syed Haroon Ahmed

Renowned psychiatrist and human rights advocate, Professor Syed Haroon Ahmed, passed away in Karachi on Thursday. A trailblazer in mental health services, Professor Haroon played a pivotal role in establishing foundations for psychiatric care in Pakistan. Throughout his life, he actively participated in social and political movements, championing human rights, minority rights, and secularism.

With nearly six decades dedicated to the field of medicine, his contributions to mental health and human rights have left a lasting legacy. Professor Haroon’s funeral prayer will be held after Juma prayer on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Masjid Abu Bakr Siddiq, Bilawal Chorangi, Clifton, Karachi, followed by his burial at Korangi No. 1.5 graveyard, Chakra Goth, near Korangi Creek.
