Kot Momin Horror: Children Playing in Wheat Storage Drum Lose Their Lives

A tragic accident unfolded in Kot Momin, Sargodha, where six young girls lost their lives due to suffocation after getting trapped inside a wheat storage drum while playing. The devastating incident has plunged the entire community into grief and anger.

According to rescue officials, the accident occurred when the girls unknowingly entered the drum, which had recently been cleaned by the household. Unfortunately, the lack of air circulation and the presence of wheat inside led to their suffocation, resulting in their untimely deaths.

Rising Child Safety Concerns After Multiple Suffocation Deaths in Pakistan

The victims have been identified as Maryam (7 years old), Sonia (6), Dua Fatima (1), Sawera Rani (4), Amna (6), and Samiya (8). Shockingly, four of them were sisters. Rescue teams rushed to the scene, but by the time they arrived, the young girls had already passed away. Their bodies were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital.

This heartbreaking incident follows a similar tragedy that occurred in Chak 60/5L Bridgewala, where two siblings died after getting locked inside a metal drum. Earlier in January, another case was reported where five children—four siblings and their cousin—died of suffocation due to smoke inhalation from burning cow dung used for warmth.

These incidents highlight the urgent need for increased awareness and preventive measures to protect children from such hazardous situations. Authorities are urged to take swift action to prevent further tragedies and enhance child safety across Pakistan.
