PM Praises Military’s Vigilance as Terrorist Plot Foiled Near Pak-Afghan Border

Security forces successfully neutralized 17 terrorists during a sanitization operation near Hassan Khel in North Waziristan, along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the ISPR reported. This operation, conducted overnight between April 27 and 28, followed earlier engagements from April 25 to 27, during which 54 militants were eliminated. Intelligence reports revealed that the neutralized terrorists were acting under the directives of external handlers and were actively plotting attacks within Pakistan. The total number of militants eliminated during the three-day anti-infiltration operation has now risen to 71.

The operation also led to the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and explosives, underscoring the security forces’ commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s borders and thwarting destabilizing efforts. Earlier, security forces had successfully repelled an infiltration attempt by militants near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The militants’ movements were detected during the nights of April 25-26 and 26-27, leading to intense armed engagements. These actions reflect the military’s vigilance and readiness to counter threats to national security.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the security forces for their professionalism and timely action, describing the operation as a testament to Pakistan’s progress in combating terrorism. In his statement, the PM emphasized the nation’s unwavering support for its armed forces and reaffirmed their resolve to defend the country’s borders and eradicate terrorism. The successful operation highlights the military’s dedication to ensuring peace and stability in the region.
