Saudi Woman Graduates from University at 63 After 42-Year Hiatus
Umm Abdullah, a 63-year-old Saudi woman, has graduated from Hail University in Saudi Arabia. She married at 17 and initially studied up to matriculation before pausing her education for 42 years to raise her 11 children. After ensuring her children were married, she resumed her studies at the age of 59 and attended her graduation ceremony yesterday.
During the convocation, a representative from the TV channel Al-Arabiya asked her about her motivation to return to education. Umm Abdullah responded that she wanted to meet Allah as a knowledgeable person, not as an ignorant one. Her inspiring journey emphasizes the importance of perseverance and lifelong learning.
Umm Abdullah’s story serves as a powerful lesson to keep searching and moving forward in life, regardless of age or circumstances, demonstrating that it’s never too late to pursue knowledge and education.
