PepsiCo Announces Winner of Greenhouse Accelerator Program – APAC Sustainability Edition
PepsiCo has proudly unveiled Powered Carbon as the inaugural winner of the Greenhouse Accelerator Program – APAC Sustainability Edition after a highly competitive initiative. Earlier this year, PepsiCo launched this program as part of its commitment to championing sustainability and innovation in the Asia-Pacific region, focusing on sustainable packaging and climate action, essential elements of their pep+ (PepsiCo Positive) vision. The goal is to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040.

Powered Carbon emerged as the victor from a group of ten impressive finalists representing various APAC countries. Their innovative solution, which aligns with the circular economy and climate action principles, demonstrated a forward-thinking approach to sustainability.
Wern Yuen Tan, CEO of PepsiCo, APAC, celebrated the collaboration with Powered Carbon and all the finalists, emphasizing its importance in their commitment to sustainability and responsible growth. The program aims to inspire the next generation of business leaders to drive meaningful change.
The judging process was rigorous, with each startup evaluated for innovation, feasibility, go-to-market readiness, and alignment with PepsiCo’s sustainability goals. Finalists received mentorship and a grant of $20,000 to refine their business models and strategies.
Visa Payments Learning Program to Diversify and Upskill Payments Talent
As the winning startup, Powered Carbon will receive an additional grant of $100,000 to develop a sustainable food system that utilizes CO2 to produce eco-friendly fertilizers, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Their innovative approach has already been tested on potatoes at PepsiCo’s China Shandong Farm, with pilot results expected in Q4 of this year.
