New Milestone: PIA Expands International Connectivity with Azerbaijan Route
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially launched direct flights from Lahore to Baku, Azerbaijan, marking a major step towards strengthening Pakistan’s international connectivity and boosting tourism.
The inaugural flight represents a milestone in PIA’s efforts to expand its global network, enhancing links between Pakistan and Central Asia. According to the airline, this initiative reflects growing diplomatic and economic relations with Azerbaijan and aims to foster tourism, trade, and stronger people-to-people ties.

Pakistan-Azerbaijan Relations Strengthen with PIA’s Direct Flights to Baku
A special inauguration ceremony was held at Allama Iqbal International Airport’s International Departure Lounge in Lahore. The event was chaired by Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif and attended by the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, alongside other dignitaries.
Speaking at the event, Khawaja Asif highlighted the positive outcomes of Pakistan’s diplomatic strategies, emphasizing that the nation’s economy is on the path to recovery under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. PM Sharif also expressed joy over this new development, stating that direct flights between Lahore and Baku will significantly promote tourism while further cementing ties with Azerbaijan.
The premier hinted at plans for PIA to expand direct flights to more friendly nations, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing collaboration with Azerbaijan and beyond in tourism and other sectors.
