Israeli Airstrike Kills Six Brothers Volunteering to Feed Starving Gazans
WHO Reports Israeli Strike on Gaza Hospital Amid Aid Blockade and Escalating Warnings
An Israeli airstrike in Deir al-Balah, Gaza, tragically killed seven people, including six brothers and their friend who were volunteering to deliver food to starving Palestinians. The Gaza Civil Defense Agency reported the incident, highlighting the devastating loss of life among those trying to provide aid. A video showed the father of the slain brothers offering prayers over their coffins, underscoring the profound grief and loss experienced by the family and community. This attack coincided with a report from the World Health Organisation (WHO) stating that another Israeli airstrike hit one of Gaza’s few operational hospitals, resulting in the death of a child.
Father Prays Over Martyred Sons as Gaza Death Toll Mounts Amidst Humanitarian Crisis
The escalating violence occurs against a backdrop of a dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza. According to reports, no humanitarian aid has entered the region since Israel allegedly violated the ceasefire on March 18th. Health officials are urgently appealing for assistance as medical supplies dwindle, leaving hospitals overwhelmed with a large number of severely wounded patients. Furthermore, thousands of Palestinians have been displaced by Israeli military actions, forcing them to flee refugee camps on foot, often carrying their belongings and enduring significant hardship, particularly the elderly and children.
Amidst these events, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant issued a warning that military operations would intensify if Hamas continued to refuse the release of remaining hostages. He claimed that millions of Gazans had already been forced to evacuate their homes due to the ongoing conflict, and threatened further isolation and displacement. The Gaza Ministry of Health reports that since October 7, 2023, at least 50,944 Palestinians have been killed and 116,156 have been injured in Israeli attacks, painting a grim picture of the ongoing conflict’s devastating human cost.
