Ismaili CIVIC Pakistan Leads the Charge Against Climate Change with Massive Plantation Drives
Recognizing the urgent need to combat climate change, Ismaili CIVIC Pakistan has taken a proactive stance in environmental conservation. The organization has spearheaded impactful plantation drives across the Hunza region, working closely with community and government partners to create a greener future.

Community Unites for a Greener Future: Summer Plantation Drive in Hunza
Building on its ongoing efforts, Ismaili CIVIC Pakistan, in collaboration with the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP), Karakoram Area Development Organisation (KADO), the Ismaili Council for Hunza, and the Forest Department of Hunza, recently launched a Summer Plantation Drive at Ahmad Abad Helipad. The event saw the enthusiastic participation of over 500 individuals, resulting in the planting of 100 Deodar trees, supported by the Government Forest Department.
Meanwhile, in Ghuharabad, Gulmit, the initiative took on a community-driven approach under the inspiring slogan “One Person, One Plant.” Partnering with the Village Organisation and Women’s Organisation of Gulmit, the drive led to the planting of 3,500 trees. Senior citizens, former leaders, and Boy Scouts actively participated, showcasing the power of collective action in promoting environmental stewardship. These efforts are paving the way for a healthier, greener future for Hunza and beyond.
