Indus Motor Company Begins Exporting Pakistan-Made Vehicles, Marks Major Milestone
IMC starts exporting Toyota models while Suzuki addresses UN regulations in Pakistan’s auto sector.
Indus Motor Company (IMC) celebrated a significant milestone by exporting Pakistan-manufactured Toyota Fortuner, Hilux, and Corolla Cross vehicles to Oceanian countries during a ceremony at its Port Qasim facility. CEO Ali Asghar Jamali credited this achievement to the vision of former chairman Ali Suleman Habib, whose dream of making Pakistan an exporter of vehicles has now become a reality.

Despite the achievement, IMC noted in a stock exchange notice that financial gains from exports would be minimal, with limited impact on the overall business. Jamali emphasized the importance of long-term policies and local sourcing to strengthen the auto sector, humorously advocating for a “carrot approach” over a “stick approach” to encourage industry growth.
Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain lauded IMC’s contributions to Pakistan’s automotive exports, aligning with the government’s Automotive Industry Development and Export Policy 2021-26. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing industry challenges, including export promotion and regulatory compliance.

On the same day, Rana visited Pak Suzuki Motor Company Ltd (PSMCL), where Suzuki’s management shared their progress in complying with United Nations regulations. Suzuki also celebrated several milestones, including vehicle exports to Bangladesh and Afghanistan and the launch of a new vendor cluster to enhance local supply chains.
