However, a crucial third-wicket partnership between Rohit Sharma (57) and Suryakumar Yadav (47), which endured a rain delay of over an hour, stabilized the innings, taking India to 113-3 by the 14th over.
Despite losing the well-set batsmen, India capitalized on late contributions from Hardik Pandya (23) and Ravindra Jadeja (17 not out), along with a spectacular one-handed six by Axar Patel off Chris Jordan in the last over, to reach a competitive total of 170. England’s bowlers, including Chris Jordan (3-37) and Adil Rashid (1-25), put up a spirited fight but couldn’t prevent India from setting a challenging target, which ultimately proved too much for England to chase.
