Amid rising tensions, India has imposed a ban on 16 Pakistani YouTube channels, including prominent news outlets such as Dawn News, ARY News, Geo News, and the personal channel of former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar. The ban was enforced on the grounds of alleged “provocative content” and “false narratives.”

The decision comes in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), raising concerns about press freedom and digital censorship. Critics claim the move is aimed at suppressing Pakistani perspectives, particularly on the Kashmir issue, and limiting access to diverse viewpoints.
Pakistan has strongly condemned the ban, urging the global community to take notice of the increasing media censorship in India. Authorities have called for international dialogue to address restrictions on journalistic freedom and cross-border information exchange.
