Funeral Ceremony of Shah Karim al-Hussaini, His Highness the Aga Khan IV
The funeral service for Mawlana Shah Karim al-Hussaini, His Highness the Aga Khan IV, 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, was held in Lisbon, Portugal, on February 8, 2025. The ceremony was attended by family, dignitaries, and representatives of the Ismaili community from around the world.
Following Ismaili tradition, Prince Rahim Aga Khan, the eldest son of the late Imam, has been designated as his successor, becoming the 50th Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims. The announcement was made in accordance with the Imam’s will.

The Aga Khan, a renowned philanthropist and global leader, dedicated his life to improving the lives of people in developing countries through the Aga Khan Development Network. His passing marks the end of an era for the Ismaili community, but his legacy of service and compassion will continue to inspire generations to come.
