While initial investigations suggest that an oil tanker may have caught fire, leading to the explosion, authorities have not ruled out the possibility of terrorism or sabotage. “It would be premature to draw any conclusions until the forensic report is completed,” said DIG East. Sindh Interior Minister Zia Lanjhar, who visited the site, stated that there are indications the explosion could have been caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), and further investigations are underway. CCTV footage and other evidence are being analyzed to determine the exact cause of the incident.
The blast occurred moments after a vehicle carrying foreign nationals passed through the area, raising concerns about a possible targeted attack. The investigation continues as CTD and intelligence agencies examine the scene for clues.
