Dubai Airports is poised to achieve an annual passenger traffic milestone at Dubai International (DXB), projecting a total of 86.8 million passengers for the year, surpassing 2019 figures. The strong growth momentum observed in the first three quarters, coupled with expectations of a significant surge in guest numbers in the final quarter, positions DXB for an impressive recovery.

The growth story for DXB in the second half of 2023 remains robust, with monthly traffic averaging 7.6 million, aligning with pre-pandemic levels throughout the third quarter. Q3 saw the world’s largest hub record its highest quarterly traffic since 2019, with 22.9 million passengers. Year-to-date traffic for the first nine months of the year reached 64.5 million passengers, reflecting a substantial 39.3% increase compared to the same period in 2022 and a 1% rise above 2019.
Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, expressed enthusiasm about DXB surpassing pre-pandemic milestones ahead of schedule, stating, “Our outlook for the remainder of this year and the next remains optimistic. Teaming up with our strategic partners, we’re ready for the challenge to continue to exceed guest satisfaction amidst the continuous surge in traffic.”
