The federal government has raised the monthly stipend of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 13,500, following approval from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This decision was finalized after five days of discussions between Pakistani officials and the IMF, during which it was agreed that no budget cuts would be made.

The IMF partially accepted Pakistan’s stance on agricultural taxes and urged all provinces to implement a super tax on agricultural income, similar to Punjab. Sindh has been directed to expedite legislation in this regard, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa confirmed its readiness to proceed. This move is expected to provide financial relief to vulnerable segments of society while aligning with IMF’s economic recommendations.
