A Boeing 777 experienced an unusual incident when an Air Canada passenger unexpectedly opened an aircraft door and fell approximately 20 feet to the ground, as initially reported by Global News.

The occurrence transpired at Toronto Pearson International Airport, involving a Boeing 777, according to information provided by an airline representative to Business Insider. The spokesperson clarified that the passenger boarded the aircraft in a standard manner but, instead of proceeding to their seat, opened a cabin door. Subsequently, the individual suffered injuries from the fall, prompting the deployment of emergency services.

Flight-tracking data from Flightradar24 revealed a significant delay for Monday’s flight from Toronto to Dubai, taking off almost six hours behind schedule. The flight, which was supposed to accommodate 319 passengers, faced disruptions due to the incident.

The airline representative stated, “We can confirm all of our approved boarding and cabin operating procedures were followed; we continue to review the incident.”

This marks the second instance in less than a week where unusual passenger behavior has impacted Air Canada flights. On January 3, a flight had to be diverted after a 16-year-old passenger assaulted a family member, as reported by the police.
