Peshawar’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system continued its transformative journey in 2024, achieving significant milestones that solidified its role as a game-changer in urban transport. According to TransPeshawar, the BRT service recorded approximately 86.5 million trips during the year, pushing its total ridership to an impressive 300 million since its launch. With daily ridership now exceeding 345,000 passengers, 30% of whom are women, the service has become a vital lifeline for the city.

The year witnessed the launch of three new routes, including the University Express Service, catering specifically to students and faculty. These additions expanded the network’s reach and accessibility. Globally, TransPeshawar’s innovative Bus Industry Restructuring Program received an honorary mention at the Sustainable Transport Awards in China, contributing to the five international accolades earned by Peshawar BRT for advancing urban mobility.

In another key development, the sale of Zo cards reached 240,000 in 2024, bringing the total to over 1.9 million. The Zo Bicycle Sharing System also saw a rise in popularity, with 2,130 new registrations and over 224,000 trips facilitated. Accessibility was further enhanced by integrating registration with NADRA and providing 115 wheelchairs at stations for passengers with disabilities. TransPeshawar addressed 23,500 passenger complaints through its helpline and social media, while completing renovations at key city landmarks to improve aesthetics and usability.
