Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah Mourns Victims, Orders Probe into Gul Plaza Blaze
Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah received a detailed report from the Commissioner Karachi and Deputy Commissioner South regarding the devastating fire at Gul Plaza, which destroyed more than 1,200 shops. The incident occurred between 9:45 and 10:15 p.m., and fire brigade teams managed to bring 60 to 70 percent of the blaze under control after extensive efforts.

According to the briefing, six people lost their lives while 22 others sustained injuries. All injured were shifted to the Burns Ward of Civil Hospital Karachi. The rescue operation involved 22 fire brigade vehicles, 10 water bowsers, four snorkel trucks, and 33 ambulances from Rescue 1122.

Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property, the Chief Minister extended condolences to the families of the deceased and paid tribute to firefighter Furqan Ali, who was martyred while battling the flames. He praised the bravery of firefighters who risked their lives to save citizens. Murad Ali Shah directed that the injured be provided the best medical care and ordered rescue and cooling operations to continue until the fire was completely extinguished.
He further stressed that investigations must be carried out to determine the cause of the fire and instructed the administration, police, and rescue agencies to remain engaged until normalcy was restored. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for stronger safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future, assuring the trader community that the Sindh government stands firmly with them and will continue to protect lives and livelihoods.
