Thousands Attend Funeral of 142-Year-Old Saudi Symbol of Faith and Resilience
DUBAI – Saudi Arabia’s oldest known man, Nasser bin Radan Al Rashid Al Wadaei, has passed away at the age of 142, according to local reports.
Funeral prayers were held in Dhahran Al Janoub, located in the southern region of the Kingdom, before he was laid to rest in his home village of Al Rashid. More than 7,000 mourners attended the funeral, reflecting the deep respect he commanded.
Al Wadaei was born before the unification of Saudi Arabia and lived through the reigns of the Kingdom’s rulers, from King Abdulaziz, the founder of modern Saudi Arabia, to King Salman. His life spanned over a century of political, social, and economic transformation in the country.
Family members shared that he performed the Hajj pilgrimage more than 40 times and was widely admired for his religious devotion. He is survived by 134 children and grandchildren. Remarkably, he married again at the age of 110 and later fathered a daughter.
News of his passing has drawn widespread attention across Saudi social media, where many described him as a symbol of faith, resilience, and longevity.
