Deadly Cylinder Explosion in Islamabad’s G-7 Sector Brings Down Four Houses
At least seven people, including the bride and groom, were killed in a cylinder explosion at a wedding house in Islamabad’s G-7 sector on Saturday. Following directives from the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Sahibzada Yousaf rushed to the scene to oversee rescue operations.
According to initial reports, guests were present in the house on Street 23 after the wedding ceremony when a gas cylinder was lit to operate a stove. The cylinder suddenly exploded with great force, causing severe damage and leading to the collapse of four nearby houses.

Fire Brigade, Rescue 115, and police teams reached the site immediately as their offices are located close to the area. Three people died on the spot, while four others succumbed to their injuries after being shifted to hospital. Eyewitnesses and rescue officials said the explosion was so powerful that it shook several surrounding areas. It was later confirmed that the blast was caused by a gas cylinder.
Rescue teams are still engaged in clearing the debris. Additional Deputy Commissioner General Sahibzada Yousaf confirmed that the explosion occurred inside the wedding house while guests were present, and that the deceased included the newlywed couple.
An emergency alert was issued at PIMS Hospital, where the injured are being provided medical treatment. The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that the K-9 unit and modern equipment are being used to search the rubble, while investigations have also been launched to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
