Starlink Signs Major Deal With Jazz Parent Veon to Bring Satellite Mobile Service to Regional Networks
Starlink, a subsidiary of SpaceX, has signed its largest direct-to-cell satellite connectivity agreement to date with Veon, the parent company of Jazz, Reuters reported. The deal will allow Veon to integrate Starlink’s satellite-powered mobile services into its regional networks, beginning with Beeline in Kazakhstan and Kyivstar in Ukraine. Veon’s footprint also includes major telecom operations in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Uzbekistan, raising expectations that satellite-backed coverage could eventually expand to these markets as well.

The partnership is non-exclusive, giving Veon the flexibility to collaborate with additional satellite service providers. The company is already in discussions with Amazon’s Project Kuiper, AST SpaceMobile, and Eutelsat OneWeb to explore broader satellite connectivity solutions aimed at enhancing network reliability and expanding service in hard-to-reach areas.
Industry experts say the deal marks a significant step toward improving digital access across Veon’s markets, potentially benefiting millions of users in remote and underserved communities.
