Pakistan Set to Add $150 Million in IT Exports, 40,000 New Jobs Through Tech Parks

Women-Only Tech Park, Nationwide STPs Mark Major Push in Pakistan’s Digital Expansion

Pakistan’s digital economy is gearing up for major growth as the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) pushes forward with new infrastructure projects aimed at boosting exports and creating jobs. The ministry expects to generate over $150 million in additional IT exports every year while creating more than 40,000 new jobs across the country. This momentum is fueled by large-scale developments, including IT parks in Islamabad and Karachi, along with the rapid rollout of 50 Software Technology Parks (STPs) nationwide.

Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja revealed that the Pakistan Software Export Board has already completed 50 STPs, spanning 1.9 million square feet and supporting more than 350 IT companies with 18,000 professionals. Recently added parks across Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and AJK highlight the government’s focus on regional inclusion and gender diversity—women now account for nearly 20% of the workforce in these facilities. A major milestone was the launch of Pakistan’s first women-only Software Technology Park in Bagh, AJK, giving women entrepreneurs and freelancers an exclusive space equipped with modern tech facilities.

Islamabad’s park alone is expected to generate 7,500 jobs and $60 million in exports, while Karachi’s facility will host over 220 ICT companies, creating 13,400 jobs and $90 million in annual exports. Under the Prime Minister’s initiative for startups and digital skills, the government also plans to establish 250 co-working spaces by 2027, with over 40 already supporting freelancers and new digital businesses across the country.
