LG Innotek Unveils Breakthrough Automotive Lighting Tech Ahead of 2027 Mass Production
LG Innotek has been awarded the CES 2026 Innovation Award for its newly developed Ultra Thin Pixel Lighting Module, marking its second consecutive win in automotive lighting innovation. The module, revealed for the first time at CES 2026, is designed to be 71% thinner and significantly lighter than traditional lighting systems, while delivering 30% greater luminous efficiency. This achievement builds on the company’s previous success with the Nexlide A+ module in 2025.

The breakthrough lies in LG Innotek’s use of white silicone-based reflective optical components, eliminating the need for bulky plastic lenses and enabling flexible, curved designs. This innovation not only enhances vehicle aesthetics and fuel efficiency but also improves safety by reducing the risk of pedestrian injuries during accidents. The module’s compact design allows installation in challenging areas like front grilles and bumpers.

Beyond design, the module boosts V2X communication capabilities, allowing vehicles to display text, HD images, and animated effects through lighting. This feature can be used for emergency messaging or personalization. LG Innotek plans to begin mass production in late 2027 and will showcase the technology alongside next-gen lighting and sensing solutions at CES 2026.
