Maulana Sherani Marries Again at 92 in Islamabad Ceremony

ISLAMABAD: At the age of 92, Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani, a distinguished religious scholar and former Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), has entered into his second marriage. The nikah ceremony was held in a simple and respectful setting in Islamabad, attended by close relatives, religious scholars, and notable figures who extended heartfelt congratulations.

Widely respected in both religious and political circles, Maulana Sherani has played a significant role in shaping Islamic discourse in Pakistan. His tenure as head of the Council of Islamic Ideology marked a period of active engagement in national religious affairs, earning him recognition as a principled and influential voice.

Maulana Sherani has long been a respected figure in Pakistan’s religious and political landscape. He previously served as a senior leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) before being expelled by the party’s Disciplinary Committee in December 2020. The decision sparked internal criticism, with former JUI-F KP chief Maulana Gul Naseeb defending Sherani’s integrity and questioning the party’s evolving leadership standards.

Both leaders pledged to collaborate on combating Islamophobia and addressing social inequality through joint efforts.
