Overseas Pakistanis Send Highest-Ever Remittances, Fueling Foreign Exchange

Pakistan has recorded a new milestone for remittances, with overseas workers sending a record $3.21 billion in July 2025. This figure marks a 7.4% increase compared to the same month last year and is the highest amount ever received for the month of July, as per data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The largest contributions came from a few key markets: Saudi Arabia ($823.7m), the UAE ($665.2m), the UK ($450.4m), and EU countries ($424.4m). However, a decline in inflows from the US, Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea highlights a significant reliance on a limited number of destinations. Experts are now urging the government to diversify the countries where Pakistanis are employed and to invest in training workers in modern skills to ensure this vital source of foreign exchange remains strong and sustainable.
