Karachi: Internal Dispute Leads to Fatal Shooting Between Police and Rangers
A tragic incident unfolded in Karachi’s Site A area where a direct exchange of gunfire between police and Rangers personnel resulted in one officer dead and another injured.
According to SSP Keamari, initial investigations reveal that a dispute erupted between a police officer and a Ranger, leading to both individuals opening fire on each other. The confrontation tragically killed Police Constable Waseem Akhtar, who was stationed at Gulshan-e-Memaar Police Station. The injured individual has been identified as Ranger Nauman, serving with 34 Wing.
Authorities recovered two 9mm pistols from the scene of the incident. SSP Keamari stated that formal procedures are underway, and the injured Ranger Nauman is currently unconscious and receiving medical treatment at a hospital. Legal action will proceed once Ranger Nauman regains consciousness and is able to provide his statement.
