Mardan, Shergarh, Bajaur District – A madrassa teacher, who had come to this area to teach the Quran to children, has been tragically murdered. The incident occurred after he disciplined a student for failing to memorize a lesson, reportedly by slapping him.
According to reports, the child went home, and shortly after, his elder brother arrived at the madrassa armed with a knife. Without hesitation, he allegedly attacked the teacher, fatally stabbing him.
This shocking event has sparked a debate about the implications for teacher-student relationships and societal values. Many are questioning whether a disciplinary slap from a teacher will now be seen as an act of humiliation justifying such extreme violence, potentially becoming a license for murder. Concerns are also being raised about the future behavior of children who witness such acts, pondering whether they will become reformers or criminals.
The incident highlights fears that if children are taught that verbal abuse, physical assault, and even murder are acceptable responses, then expecting morality, piety, and humanity from them is futile. The silence surrounding this case, particularly given that the victim was a madrassa teacher dedicated to teaching the Quran, has also been noted.
