Pakistan Court Orders Blocking of 27 YouTube Channels

Islamabad Court Directs YouTube to Block Channels Over “Baseless Propaganda”

Islamabad – An Islamabad local court has ordered the blocking of 27 YouTube channels, citing their alleged involvement in spreading baseless propaganda against state institutions. Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah issued a two-page written order, with YouTube’s legal support reportedly having already notified the channels in question that they may be blocked without further email communication.

Pakistan YouTube Channel Ban

According to details, Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah of Islamabad directed YouTube to block these 27 channels in Pakistan. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) initiated an inquiry on June 2 regarding unsubstantiated propaganda and baseless allegations that could incite unrest and fear among the public. The investigating officer subsequently filed a request with the court to block these YouTube channels.

Journalist YouTube Channels Blocked Pakistan

Judge Abbas Shah approved the request, ordering the blocking of YouTube channels belonging to several individuals, including journalists Matiullah Jan, Asad Toor, Siddique Jan, Haider Mehdi, Orya Maqbool Jan, Arzoo Kazmi, Rana Uzair Speaks, Sajid Gondal, Habib Akram, Imran Riaz Khan, Naya Pakistan, Sabir Shakir, Imran Khan, Aftab Iqbal, Real Entertainment TV, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Daily Qudrat, Abdul Qadir, Charsadda Journalist, Naila Pakistani Reaction, Wajahat Saeed Khan, Ahmed Noorani, Nazar Chauhan, Moeed Pirzada, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, and Shayan Ali.

FIA Inquiry Against YouTube Channels Pakistan

In its order, the court stated that it was satisfied with the evidence presented by the FIA and confirmed that action could be taken in accordance with the law. The officer in charge at YouTube has been directed to block the 27 specified channels.
