TTP Targets Government Convoy in KP’s Bajaur; Nation Condemns Terror Attack
At least five people, including Nawagai Assistant Commissioner Faisal Ismail, two policemen, and a civilian, were killed while 11 others sustained injuries when a government vehicle was targeted in a bomb blast in Bajaur district’s Nawagai Road area on Wednesday. The banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack, which completely destroyed the vehicle. Following the blast, security was heightened and emergency declared in local hospitals for treating the injured.
Pakistan Steps Up Anti-Terror Operations After Bajaur Blast Kills Officials
The attack reflects the ongoing spike in terrorist incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan after the TTP ended its ceasefire with the government in late 2022. Pakistan, ranked second on the Global Terrorism Index 2025, continues to grapple with rising militancy. KP police chief Zulfiqar Hameed ordered an intelligence-based operation and directed the Counter-Terrorism Department to dispatch a special team to Bajaur for evidence collection and suspect arrests.

Officials reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring that those responsible would be swiftly brought to justice.
