Researchers found that melittin not only killed cancer cells within 60 minutes of exposure but also damaged their ability to grow and spread, while leaving healthy cells mostly unharmed. The study provides hope for developing natural, targeted cancer treatments in the future, though experts caution that more research and clinical trials are needed before it can be applied to humans.
