Saudi’s New Flag Carrier Riyadh Air Selects A350-1000 as Fleet Cornerstone
Saudi Arabia’s new premium airline Riyadh Air has finalized an order for 25 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft at the Paris Air Show, with options to expand the fleet to 50 units. The landmark agreement was signed by PIF Governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Airbus Commercial Aircraft CEO Christian Scherer, and Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas. This makes Riyadh Air the first Saudi carrier to operate the A350-1000, supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goal of handling 300 million annual passengers and establishing itself as a global aviation hub.

Riyadh Air CFO Adam Boukadida emphasized the aircraft’s role in delivering premium service and sustainability, stating: “The A350-1000 brings outstanding efficiency and comfort, enabling us to connect Saudi Arabia to the world while aligning with our environmental commitments.” Airbus EVP Benoît de Saint-Exupéry highlighted the A350-1000’s unmatched range and efficiency as ideal for the airline’s growth strategy and Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification plans.

The A350 family, currently with 1,390 orders from 60+ airlines, represents the most advanced widebody aircraft in production. Already capable of operating with 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Airbus is working toward 100% SAF compatibility by 2030. This order positions Riyadh Air to compete in long-haul markets while supporting Saudi Arabia’s transformation into a major aviation player.
