Survey Reveals Public Reluctance and Infrastructure Gaps Slowing Electric Motorcycle Adoption in Pakistan
A recent survey by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan has revealed that only 6% of Pakistanis own electric motorcycles, with slightly better adoption in urban areas at 11%. Despite growing global interest in eco-friendly transportation, the country continues to struggle with low ownership rates. The study, conducted from April 11 to 18, 2025, gathered responses from over 1,000 adults across all four provinces and found that a staggering 93% of respondents do not own an electric motorcycle, reflecting public hesitancy toward this emerging technology.

The report highlights several key barriers, including a lack of charging infrastructure, high upfront costs, and limited public awareness about the benefits of electric mobility. These issues risk slowing Pakistan’s progress toward environmental targets and cleaner urban air. Experts urge that policy reforms, awareness campaigns, and infrastructure development are essential to promote electric motorcycles as a practical, sustainable option for the public and help align Pakistan with global green mobility trends.
