Milk Price in Karachi Rises to Rs 220 per Litre After Agreement

The price of milk in Karachi has increased by Rs 20 per litre following an agreement between dairy farmers, wholesalers, and Commissioner Karachi. After hours of consultations, it was decided to set the new retail price at Rs 220 per litre, with farm and wholesale rates at Rs 195 and Rs 205 per litre, respectively. An official notification of the price adjustment is expected later today.

The increase comes after dairy farmers initially demanded much higher rates. The final agreement represents a compromise between the stakeholders, ensuring that the new prices are adhered to until December 31, 2024. Written affidavits have been obtained from all parties to guarantee compliance with the new pricing structure.

To ensure transparency and quality control, the new official rates will be displayed at all milk shops, and wholesalers will issue invoices to retailers based on sales price and quantity.
