Experts say that coal, sand, water, and electricity are required to make chip wafers, and Thar’s sand is most suitable for this purpose. Additionally, 250 megawatts of electricity required for this project can also be obtained from Thar. The estimated cost of the chip wafer foundry scheme is $450 million, which can be funded through the CPEC project. There is also 150 acres of land available for the proposed Chip Wafer Foundry in Islamkot District Tharparkar. The Sindh Information Technology Department has prepared the preliminary paperwork related to the Chip Wafer Foundry project and sent it to the concerned ministries.
